The Martin Luther King is a Federal holiday in the U.S., which marks the birth of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, and is commemorated every years.The Martin Luther King federal holiday is a relatively new and few traditions. It is seen as a day to promote equal rights for all Americans, regardless of their origin. It makes a beautiful parade on Fifth Avenue.

15 and May 16, 2011 - Ninth Avenue between 37th and 57th
Ninth Avenue International Food Festival

Each year, more than a million people visit the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival in New York, celebrating the food through the pleasures of the various ethnic groups living in the Big Apple. On 15 and May 16, Ninth Avenue will be closed to traffic between 37th and 57th, as occurs in 1973, is full of stalls offering more preparations of different origins, and particularly in the context of one of the most emblematic of the city, Hell's Kitchen (Hell's Kitchen).

Washington Square Outdoor Art Show

The event features artists and craftsmen from around the metropolitan New York, the nation and the world. Participants come from everywhere and are a cosmopolitan mix, including art lovers, tourists, teachers and students from many area schools and professional interior designers. The show is based in University Place, and this spring will start at East 12th Street extending south along the east side of Washington Square Park ends at West 3rd Street. The southern end of the exhibition covers Schwartz Plaza, (also known as Bobkin Lane), between NYU Shimkin Hall and the Library Bobst.
