 Istanbul is a city of infinite possibilities. The Greeks called it Bizancio and the Romans Constantinople. It's a part of Europe and of Asia. It has both modern and traditional areas. The border with Europe is divided in two by the Golden Horn and to the north of this point you can find accommodation in Sultanahmet, the old town formed by various different suburbs. The other, which you'll be able to reach quickly from your accommodation in Sultanahmet, is Yerebatan Sarayi, the cistern of the Basilica, an underground deposit of water which was constructed under orders of Justinian.

Your accommodation near Sultanahmet will also place you close to the many Ottoman mosques such as Saint Sophie and the Blue Mosque which almost face each other from opposite ends of the Sultanahmet square. Nearby also is the Turkish and Islamic art museum. From accommodation in the Sultanahmet area and in the direction of the Bosphoro Sea you will find yourself face to face with the Topkapì palace with its imposing white marble façade, its seven gates and its four patios.
